The Guild of Food Writers campaigns mainly by means of encouragement. Hence we have two sorts of campaign:

  • professional campaigns, by means of which we attempt to set standards on areas such as plagiarism and metrication; and
  • competitions open to the public, like Write It, which is intended to encourage children and young people to write about food. In the past we also ran Cook It, a children's cooking competition.


Write It

The Guild’s Write It competition for young food writers is run in partnership with Pink Lady® apples. The competition encourages children from three age groups (10 and under, 11–14 and 15–18) to capture one of their favourite food experiences on the page.

Write It was established in 2008 and has seen prestigious names from the Guild’s membership judge entries from more than 1,000 aspiring food writers.
